Stuck, or something not working? We're happy to help. Most answers are below, and you can always email us.
Get in touch
Email hello@monami.love. Tell us what happened, and which iPhone and iOS version you're using. Please don't send anything private from your chats unless you want us to read it.
Questions and answers
How do we pair?
One of you opens the Us tab and taps Invite your partner. Share your invite link, text it, or show your QR code. Your partner taps the link, or opens Mon Ami and enters your code where it says “Have your partner's code?” You can be paired with one partner at a time.
My code isn't working
Codes are six letters and numbers, and capitals don't matter. There's no letter I or O and no 0 or 1, which helps with typos.
If you see “That code has already been used”, your partner's code may have changed, or they may have paired with someone else. Ask them for the code their app shows now. If you see “That's your own code”, send it to your partner instead. If you see “You're already paired with someone”, unpair first.
How do I unpair?
On the Us tab, open your partner's page and tap Unpair. What you shared, like answers, talks and agreements, is hidden from you but not deleted. If you pair with your partner again using their code, it all comes back. Your chats with Ami, check-ins and learnings stay yours. Your partner isn't told why, but they'll see you're no longer paired.
Does my partner need to pay?
No. Pairing is free, and the person you invite never has to pay to join you, answer questions together or take part in a talk you start.
How do I cancel Plus?
Plus is billed by Apple, so you cancel it with Apple. On your iPhone, go to Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Mon Ami, then tap Cancel Subscription. Or tap Manage on the Plus card in the Us tab. To avoid being charged again, cancel at least 24 hours before it renews. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel it.
How do I restore my purchase?
Make sure you're signed in with the Apple ID you used to subscribe, then go to Us › Help › Restore purchases. Apple handles payments, so for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Us › Privacy › Delete my account. This deletes your account and your data from our servers for good, and it can't be undone. If you created your shared space, it's deleted for your partner too. Our Privacy Policy lists exactly what goes. Deleting your account doesn't cancel Plus, so cancel that with Apple as well.
Who can read our messages?
Your chats with Ami are private to you. Your partner can't see them, and Ami never brings them into a talk. What you do together, like answers, talks and agreements, is shared between the two of you, and most answers unlock only once you've both answered. For the full list, go to Us › Privacy and look under Sharing.
To reply, Ami sends what you write to Anthropic's Claude AI. We don't read your chats unless you ask us to, and we never sell them. There's more in our Privacy Policy.
Is this therapy?
No. Ami is an AI coach, not a therapist, and Mon Ami isn't a crisis service. It can help you talk things through and try small changes, but it isn't a replacement for professional help. If things feel unsafe or too big, the helplines below are free and confidential.
I got a new phone, or deleted the app. Where's my account?
For now, your account lives in the app on the phone where you set it up, with no email or password. If you delete the app or move to a new phone, you may not be able to get back into it, and we can't recover it for you. We're working on Sign in with Apple, so your account can come with you. Until then, please keep the app installed.
If you do lose your account, you can start again with a new one. Your partner can unpair from your old account and invite you again, but what you shared before won't come across.
If things feel too much
These helplines are free and confidential. Ami can't call anyone or send help, so if you need someone now, contact one of them.
